About the memorial: Large detailed stained glass window. The subject is self-sacrifice, protraying the heroism and fortitude of those who volunteered their lives, and also in their glorious triumph in death. In the centre is the archangel Michael crushing the serpent representing war. In the centre of the background is a blood-red cross. Other figures include William Wallace, the figure of Justice, Galgacus, Ninian, King Robert the Bruce, Columba, George Wishart. The lower tracery lights have figures of welcoming angels, the top most spires of the New Jerusalem, an angel of Hope bearing a shield and anchor, an angel holding out the palm of Victory, Faith with a shield with a lighted candle, and Charity whose shield has a crimson light. A brass plaque with detailed bordering and lettering in gold has the dedication and names.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
