About the memorial: The memorial was commissioned and paid for by Mr Tony Larkin representing the Gravesend Historical Association and was unveiled on 28 April 2006 to coincide with the 150 anniversary of the founding of the Victoria Cross. 195 Colyer Road was the family home of Eric Harden who was married with two small children - his son Bobbie and daughter Julia
