About the memorial: The memorial originally belonged to one of the smaller Cement Works based at Strood in Kent - called the Crown & Quarry Works. These smaller works were eventually purchased by a larger company named Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers (A.P.C.M.) this eventually became Blue Circle cement and now La Farge. Blue Circle cement created a small museum at their Northfleet works as this was the main works in the area and I believe these memorials were gathered here. When the factory closed at Northfleet many of the artifacts were donated to Gravesham Borough Council. I found this memorial in their storage along with another from the British Standard Cement Works (this has been restored and re-located back to the Medway area). This memorial needs to be restored and suitable location in Strood is required to re-site it.
