About the memorial: Our petitioners have placed a white marble tablet on black background about four feet by about three feet in size with the following inscription thereon namely: On the South wall of the nave of the parish church of Foston, Erected without faculty Faculty Book 13, Page 682, dated 25th August 1920 To extend the existing 1914 – 18 War Memorial to include the date and names of the two villagers who gave their lives in the 1939 – 1945 War. By adding a matching white marble plaque on a slate background immediately underneath the existing memorial, with the same type lettering. Inscription:- Faculty Book 1975-1977, No 537 dated 3rd June 1977.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
