About the memorial: Memorial to Lieutenant Colonel Hume Riversdale Jones, 6th Royal Battalion, 13th Frontier Force Rifles. Son of Hume Riversdale Jones and Elizabeth Anne Jones (nee Phibbs). He married Ruth Babington, daughter of Right Honourable Sir Anthony Brutus Babington and Ethel Vaughan Hart, on 5 Dec 1936. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst 1923-24. Commissioned into the King's Shropshire Light Infantry on 27 Aug 1924. Transferred as a Lieutenant to the Indian Army on 15 May 1931. Mentioned in Despatches during WW2. Killed in action when commanding his battalion in Italy aged 39 years. Buried in grave V.E.22. of the Sangro River War Cemetery, Torino di Sangro, Provincia di Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy.
