About the memorial: The memorial is a reading stall given in his memory. David was a chorister at St George's before the war and he played the organ for the church (he also played at Luddesdown church). His nickname was "Dicky" and he was educated at Gravesend County School. His father was a Trinity House Channel Pilot. Flying Officer (Pilot) SPARROW, DAVID ALASTAIR Service Number 126770 Died 20/04/1943 Aged 21 151 Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve Son of Joseph Albert and Janet Marian Sparrow, of Gravesend, Kent.
