About the memorial: Memorial to Captain Walter Harry Corfield Bucknall, 2nd Battalion 5th Northumberland Fusiliers. Son of Harry Corfield Bucknall and Alice Frederica Bucknall (nee Oakshotta) of 28 Kensington Court Mansions, London. Younger brother of Lieutenant-General Gerard Corfield Bucknall CB, MC, DL (14 Sep 1894 – 7 Dec 1980). Baptised in St Peter's Church, Rock Ferry, Birkenhead. Educated at Repton School. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Royal Fusiliers on 16 Dec 1914. Wounded twice during his service on the European front. Missing in action while leading Y Company of the 1st/5th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers in an attack on Bois des Aubepines, near Monchy Le Preux, France aged 20 years. Also commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Arras, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
