About the memorial: World War Two - Roll of Honour. This 50 plus pages list is based primarily on the Roll of Honour complied by Mr. R .H. Johnson in the early 1980s - soldiers whose names were published in the "Gainsborough News" during WWII - there is a copy of this Roll of Honour in All Saint's Church and Gainsborough Library. In this Roll of Honour the places where soldiers are buried/commemorated have been added. Some corrections have been made and some names have been added - the additional names are from a variety of sources e.g. soldiers named on Q.E. Grammar School Memorial. Details have been checked as far as possible by referring to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website. The final column gives additional information - often from the information published in the wartime Gainsborough News. Any corrections, additions or extra information is welcomed. Research by Peter Bradshaw and TVA School, Gainsborough. The layout is the same as WW1.
