About the memorial: Memorial to 2nd Lieutenant Leslie Gottfried (Godfrey) Harcourt-Vernon, 1st Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers, attached to 23 Squadron Royal Flying Corps. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst 1915. Commissioned into the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 22 Dec 1915. Awarded the Miitary Cross (London Gazette 31 Jul 1916) "For conspicuous gallantry and skill. With Captain Adams as pilot he attacked a flight of six enemy machines within their lines. They brought down one in flames, and, after being joined by a second British machine, drove off the remainder, one falling out of control. He has previously done fine work". Killed in action on the Somme aged 18 years. Commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial, Arras, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. Also commemorated on a memorial plaque at St Giles Church, Wrexham, Wales.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
