About the memorial: Location - wall mounted, southern wall of church and west of previously described Cust memorial. Description - a highly polished brass oblong with the long sides mounted horizontally. In from the edges are 2 lines, one black and the second and more central one in red. The red line extends to each corner to form a Fleur de Lys type arrangement there, the black one forms 2 sides of a square around that arrangement. About 1/3rd of the way in from the left a highly decorative swirled line from top to bottom divides the plaque into 2, to the left (smaller section) is a shield showing an inverted red chevron with 2 Squirrels beneath and 1 above the chevron. Atop the shield is another, larger, squirrel while beneath it is a scroll showing the motto Dum Spiro Spero. The writing of the dedication occupies the right side 2/3rd portion and is in black lettering with red capitalisation. Dimensions - 0.61m wide and 0.41m high. The larger 2/3rd portion is 0.38m wide.

In memory of Alfred Holt Esq Captain 1st Battalion 21st Royal North British Fusiliers son of the late Rear Admiral William Holt who died in the Neilgherries, India on the 25th July 1870 aged 38 years. Erected by his brother officers in token of their sorrow and affectionate esteem.
