About the memorial: Memorial to Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Murray Pirie, Royal Engineers. Son of James Gordon Pirie and Charlotte Capon Pirie(nee Murray). Husband of Margaret Joyce "Peg" Pirie, (nee Miller), of Weetwood Hall, Chatton, Northumberland, and later of Camberley, Surrey. They had one son, James William Gordon Pirie. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Royal Engineers on 23 Jan 1919. Promoted to Lieutenant 23 Jan 1921 and to Captain 23 Jan 1930. GSO3 in the War Office from 1937. Died in Cherbourg, France during the deployment of the British Expeditionary Force into France in Sep 1939 aged 40 years. Buried nearby in grave Row A. Grave 36 of Tourlaville Communal Cemetery and Extension, Tourlaville, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
