About the memorial: Not strictly a war memorial, but an item of interest to visitors of War Memorials Online. The tablet located to the right of the chancel in Ruswarp church is surmounted by this bullet-pierced crucifix recovered from the battlefield of Ypres. The brass(?) plaque under the tablet tells the story of this crucifix whose bullet hole can still be seen. The bullet pierced crucifix as picked up by a British soldier on the battlefield of Ypres and was presented to this church with the permission of the Burgomaster of that city. This church closed in September 2019.
