About the memorial: Richly illuminated Book of Remembrance executed in calligraphy. Hand drawn illuminated manuscript volume on vellum and parchment in a 32cm. oak casket within a 41cm. padded silk and velvet lined case. The book and the casket are ornamented in hallmarked silver, and both the book and the case have 'Goldsmiths' and Siversmiths' Company Ltd., 112 Regent St., London, W.' marked inside. The Brixton Independent Church was totally destroyed by enemy action in September, 1940 and the book and casket subsequently recovered from the debris. Document Reference LBY 23172.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
