About the memorial: The whole document consists of a paper Roll of Honour mounted within a white cardboard frame. The writing is in an Old English font, quite difficult to make out in places particularly as regards ‘T’s, ‘F’s and ‘J’s. The personnel who joined up are picked out in red ink, whilst though who did not are kept in black ink. The roll of honour measures 820mm by 590mm, and is signed E.J. Foster. The Roll of Honour includes the names of Regular Officers, Special Fireman and Despatch Riders, giving their initials and surnames, and ranks. The lists of the fireman are in alphabetical order. Below the list is a picture of the Fire Station as it was in Grimsby in Town Hall Square in 1919. The whole document consists of a paper Roll of Honour mounted within a white cardboard frame. History of the memorial The Roll of Honour was presented to the Archives on 7th March 1974 by the Grimsby Borough Fire Brigade. I have no other information at present as to how it came to be in this format, but would welcome any person who wanted to add any information as to how this Roll of Honour came to created. The Roll is in good condition, containing within in it a sepia photo of the old fire station in Town Hall Square, which is opposite the Archives Office. The Roll is now the responsibility of North East Lincolnshire Council.
