About the memorial: To provide and place a tablet of Hopton Wood Stone about two feet two inches by about eleven inches in size with the following inscription thereon, namely: The cost of the tablet, faculty fee etc to be borne by the Rev. Charles Penrose Disbrowe Approved at a meting of the Parochial Church Council 12th November 1947. Seal affixed 5th January 1948. Faculty Box 20. Dido Class Light Cruiser HMS Bonaventure (Capt. Henry Jack Egerton, RN) was torpedoed and sunk, while escorting convoy GA-8 from Greece to Alexandria, by the Italian submarine Ambra about 100 nautical miles south-south-east of Crete in position 33º20'N, 26º35'E. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
