About the memorial: Vertical grey headstone comprising classical urn atop 4 sided slightly tapering pillar, the whole stands on 3 tier inwardly stepped base. Inscriptions over all pillar faces and upper 2 tiers of some bases and is mixture of black and self coloured lettering, some now faded and lichen contaminated. Note: Relative position of faces unknown

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

Joseph Mashford Pearson. Private 97157. Royal Army Medical Corps. Died at sea 4th May 1917. Son of Frederick Benjamin and Frances Pearson of 32 Hartley Street, Boston, Lincs. Husband of Lillian Pearson (nee Wilhelmina L Lindsay) of 20 Pen Street, Boston, Lincs. Father of Muriel, William and Joseph Pearson. Born 1887 Boston, enlisted Bourne and resident Boston, Lincs. Missing and commemorated Savona Memorial. Cyril Claud Mashford. Private 763. Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery, 1st Division (previously 2nd Battalion, Australian Infantry). Born Neutral Bay, Australia, enlisted 22nd August 1914 Australia and died of Pneumonia at Fovant Military Hospital, England on 24th February 1917, aged 24 years. Son of (the late) Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Mashford of 38 Sutherland Street, Neutral Bay, Sydney, Australia. Buried Baverstock (St Edith) Churchyard, Wilts. Commemorated Boston War Memorial.
