About the memorial: A tablet to the memory of those who gave their lives in the 1939 – 45 War was unveiled in the porch at Horncastle War Memorial Hospital on Thursday evening last week, in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and townspeople, representing various organisations in the town The tablet had been placed on the wall of the poach on the opposite side to the tablet in memory of those who fell in the 1914-18 War. It was a simple yet impressive service and the unveiling was done by Major P. Kime, M.C., West Ashby. The tablet was dedicated by the Rev F. S. Pritchard (Methodist Minister). Coun. W. E. Hodson (Chairman of the Urban Council) presided. Among the large gathering were representatives of the Urban Council, War Memorial Committee, British Legion, A.T.C., Army Cadets, Home Guard, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Hospital Board, the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment, Red Cross, Toc H, Pol9ice Force, Chamber of Trade and other public bodies. Relatives of those whose names are inscribed on the tablet were grouped in front of the Hospital. The Last Post and Reveille were sounded by a bugler of the Royal Lincolnshire \regiment, and the blessings pronounced by the Rev F. S. Pritchard.
