About the memorial: The Alexandra Road Boys Council School War Memorial was unveiled in June 1919. It was designed and executed in oak by Mr David John Saer, a native of Cyffig, near Pendine, who was headmaster of the school, and took twelve months to complete. The 48 names of former pupils are carved on revolving squares after the style of the peithynen; an ancient bardic method of writing quatrains. However, the original school site id no longer used for educational purposes. This entry is taken from the West Wales War Memorial Project and that usually excellent source does not say whether the memorial remains in situ, went to the new school site or to a local museum. Local knowledge urgently needed.
