About the memorial: The memorial refers to three Nimrod crashes but only the third is a war episode - in Afghanistan in 2006. Large model of a Nimrod aircraft in the centre of small stones of red, white and blue as in the RAF roundel on a circular base surrounded by a garden area. Model away for restoration and repair. Commemorates those lost in three Nimrod accidents. Two pilots who died in November 1980 when an aircraft of 206 Squadron whilst taking off. The crew of a Nimrod that crashed during an air display in Canada in September 1995 and the 15 on board a Nimrod of 120 Squadron that exploded over Afghanistan in September 2006. It is outside the War Veterans' Cottages.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
