About the memorial: Nowy headed tablet On October 11th, 1911, the memorial was unveiled by Lt. General H. F. Davies, Colonel of the regiment and dedicated by the Dean of Lincoln cathedral (Dr. C. T. Fry) The memorial was originally in the porch of the west front of the cathedral.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

Born 14 January 1819 Died 29 January 1890 Served in 1st Xth Foot from 16 Sept. 1836 to 14 June 1864 Present at Battle of Sobraon- Sutlej Campaign 1845-6-Siege of Mooltan; Action of Soorjkoond; Fort Cherioti: Battle of Goojerat-Punjaub Campaign, 1848 -9-Siege & Capture of Lucknow; Action of Fort Atrowleea, actions at Chanda, Umeerpore, Sultanpore & Fort Douraha, Azimghur, Touse & Jugdespore-Indian Mutiny 1857-8 Commanded the Battalion from June 21st 1858 to June 14 1864 This memorial is erected by the officers of his old battalion as a token of esteem.
