This tablet is erected as a grateful tribute to all those of this church and school who served in the second world war 1939-1945 and in loving remembrance of Sgt Joe Hilton Halliwell of the Royal Air Force who gave his life in the cause of our freedom whilst flying over Germany on February 19th 1943. He loved flowers and green places the wind upon the heath, and saw the brightness of the skirts of god.

Sgt Joe Hilton Halliwell
