About the memorial: Memorial to former RAF Grangemouth airfield which was an operational fighter airfield and a training airfield. Comprises 1. Replica Supermarine Spitfire Mark I X4859 PQ-N - PQ-N crashed 15th September 1941 over Avondale estate killing Sergeant Eugeniusz Lukomski. 2. Large RAF roundel on ground, surrounded by a series of panels on the history of the airfield. 3. Brick wall with panels listing those killed during training on one side and information on the Air Training Corps on the other side. 4. Small stone cairn commemorating RAF 75th anniversary. Note that the memorial wall was not added until 2008, and the spitfire and stained glass window in 2013.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
