About the memorial: Originally located at Portland Shoes, The Newarke Leicester. This Roll of Honour lists the names of staff of T Roberts and Sons (Portland Shoes, The Newarke, Leicester) who served in The British Armed Forces. Above the names is inset a painting signed "A.D.D." showing a soldier and sailor with a Union Flag standing on the cliffs of Dover. Its former locations was the boardroom at Portland Shoes. The firm was founded by Thomas Roberts in 1872 and was based at its premises in the Newarke from 1889 until the firms amalgamation with the Ward-White Company in 1979. It closed in 1972. Gift of DL Roberts, Managing Director of Portland Shoes 1977.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
