Status: On original site
Type: Non freestanding
Location: External
Setting: Attached to a building/structure
Description: Board/Plaque/ Tablet
Materials:
  • Stone Stone (any)
Lettering: Incised
Conflicts:
  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: A stone bench seat, backed by a stone tablet. The names are in 2 columns and there is a gap in the names on both columns after the 7th name with both the upper and lower sets of names being in alphabetical order. There is no obvious reason for this as the 'killed or died' are scattered between the two sets of names. Maybe one set are the tenants and the other set the staff. A question which needs detailed research. It is on the wall of the walled garden just to the right of Pollock house, as you look at the front of the house from the bank of the River Cart.
