About the memorial: The memorial is installed in an entrance porch internal window. It comprises a bronze helmeted female figure dressed in flowing robes. She clasps a sword and a wreath and stands on a pedestal bearing the words ‘ER COF AM’ (IN MEMORY OF). The figure is mounted on a Pavonazzo marble plaque with the following inscription:- EU COFFADWRIAETH A BERY YN DRAGYWYDD (THEIR MEMORIAL IS EVERLASTING). CARIAD MWY NA HWN NID OES GAN NEB SEF BOD I UN ROI EI EINIOES DROS EI GYFELLION (“GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS”)1 1914 -1919 AELODAU O’R EGLWYS HON A RODDASANT EU BYWYD YN Y ABERTH YN Y RHYFEL MAWR MEMBERS OF THIS CHURCH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR SACRIFICE Beneath the memorial is a separate bronze plaque inscribed with the words:- IDRIS PRYSE AELOD O’R EGLWYS HON A RODDOD EI FYWYD YN ABERTH YN Y RHYFEL 1939 - 1945 THIS CHURCH MEMBER GAVE HIS LIFE IN SACRIFICE IN THE WAR 1939-1945 The memorial was designed by Sir William Goscombe John. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
