About the memorial: Addition to family gravestone. Gravestone 438. This record is derived from the rather elderly Monumental Transcripts, held at Whitehaven Archives. This is in the Cemetery behind the Church, Section 2 of 4 from the north, 14 rows from west or 19 rows from east, the most northern stone in the row (that is beside the path which divides Sections 1 and 2. The Military inscription is below ground level- you would not see it on a casual walk round the Cemetery, unless you knew that it was there.
