About the memorial: Nowy-headed brass plaque mounted onto a nowy-headed oak backboard. Symmetrical patterned border around the edge of the plaque. Wreath at the top. Incised inscription in black lettering. There was also a printed and framed Roll of Honour of all 134 who served and returned (now lost). It was relocated when Chapel Brow School at Bridgefoot/Little Clifton (now a private house) was closed. It was unveiled on 21 July 1920 by Arnold Kennedy, son of the first casualty of Clifton, was made by Messrs Hammer and Co Ltd- refer West Cumberland Times 24 July 1920 page 2

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
