About the memorial: Marbled red Alabaster Plaque laid horizontal on a window sill. Note that the book referenced in the inscription is neither at St Cuthbert's Church or in the Parish Archives at Carlisle Archive Centre and is presumed lost. St Mary's Church was within the grounds of Carlisle Cathedral. When that Church closed the tablet was moved to St Paul's Church- when that closed in 1978 and became Elim Pentecostal it was then moved to St Cuthbert's. Unveiled 9 May 1920 by the Dean of Carlisle- refer Carlisle Journal 11 May 1920 page 5c. It is at the west end of the north aisle.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
