About the memorial: This was a crude Roll of Honour on the reverse side of a piece of card previously used for other purposes, still containing it's wall hook. However with the amount of information on it it is very useful for historians to identify local servicemen. Although dated 1915 it was clearly updated through the war. For an item intended to be essentially ephemeral it's survival was remarkable. The School was otherwise known as Upper Holker School and closed in 1929. Document Reference BDS 37/5.
