About the memorial: Brass Plaque on a bench, with the badge of the King's Royal Rifle Corps engraved on the left hand side of the plaque. Unveiled February 2016. Funded by Windermere Branch of the Royal British Legion, see The Westmorland Gazette 28 July 1945 page 7 h-i, for details of this accident, and 22 October 2015 page 24 for the new bench which also retells the story of the tragedy. It is inside the Memorial Gardens (closest to the Cenotaph- WMO/118521) on the left hand (uphill) side
