About the memorial: Single light stained glass window with figure. Dedicatory inscription at base. Figure of The Virgin Mary with three cherubs at her feet depicted in the window with countryside scene depicted immediately above the inscription. Multicoloured scrolling and foliate border around whole window. St Josephs college was founded by the Marist Brothers (religious order). "In 1852 the Brothers first came to London and opened schools in the poor districts of the East End. In 1858 they came to Glasgow and started St. Mungo's Academy. Over the years primary schools followed, St. Mungo's in the Townhead, St. Patrick's in Anderston, St. Mary's and St. Alphonsus in the Calton, Sacred Heart in Bridgeton. Schools were also opened in Dumfries, Dundee, Wolverhampton, Jarrow, and Ireland." This explains why the chapel contains WW1 and WW2 memorials for St Marys School Glasgow

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
