About the memorial: Framed Roll of Honour. The Lectern referred to in the Dedicatory wording is WMO/274935. The memorial was originally located in the previous premises of Douglas Ewart High School, Newton Stewart at OS Map Ref NX 409 657 (originally the Ewart High School). The Ewart was a boys school and after WW1 it merged with the Douglas (girls school) to become the Douglas Ewart High School. In June 1976 Douglas Ewart school moved up the road to its present premises and the memorial was moved at that time.
