About the memorial: Addition to family gravestone. The Galloway Gazette 27 July 1950 article provide a bit more background to his death, and includes a picture of him. It stated that W/O William Smith Fenion had been killed when the Lincoln Bomber in which he was flying on duty collided in mid-air over Deversoir, Egypt, with a Vampire jet on May 11th. W/O Fennion, along with ten other victims of the crash, was buried at the Military Cemetery, Fayid, on May 13th. W/O Fenion had enlisted during the war for a 10-year stint and had rejoined for a further two.
