About the memorial: Memorial commemorating Admiral Robert Bertie d. 1642. 1st Earl of Lindsey, Vice-Admiral on expedition to La Rochelle 1627 and Admiral of the ship-money fleet. He served as a military commander during the English Civil War and was killed at the Battle of Edgehill. Two black marble inscription panels flanked by white marble panels carved with armorials and military trophies. The whole supported on brackets in the form of helms. There is a carved shield of arms with a coronet, flanked by anchors below. On the pediment above, a shield of arms with a coronet, flanked by field artillery. In the vault.
