About the memorial: In relief, a kneeling midshipman mourns at Westcott's tomb. A crocodile is carved on the front of the sarcophagus, which is draped with a naval ensign, a wreath placed round the truck. Sails and spars behind. A mortar and other naval trophies to the left of the tomb. This memorial was recorded and photographed in 2010 so may be assumed to have survived the devastating fire of 1911. However, the church closed in 2019 and its eventual use is unclear so the fate of the memorial needs to be ascertained. The memorial is of national significance, as the widow ow of Captain Westcott was visited by Admiral Lord Nelson, who presented her with his own Battle of te Nile medal. See Link on family history.) There is also a memorial to him in St Paul's Cathedral.
