Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

The original plaque- OPERATION OVERLORD/This slipway was constructed for the embarkation of/troops and equipment of the 4th Infantry of/the VII Corps of the United States 1st Army upon their/departure from this harbour for the D-Day landings./on the beaches of Normandy, Tuesday, 6th June 1944.; The Blue Plaque- BRIXHAM CIVIC SOCIETY/Brixham/WW II Slipways & Hard/Grade II listed in 2009/Built in May 1943 for/US Forces Training Exercises including/Exercise Tiger 26th to 29th April 1944/D Day Landing/2,500 US 4th Infantry and 12 amphibuous DD/tanks embarked from here on 4th June 1944/bound for Utah Beach, followed by/the loading and embarkation of/supply convoys/BRIXHAM TOWN COUNCIL; The Interpretation Board- Brixham's World War II- Slipway and Embarkation Hard/The British Army, Royal Engineers, built the Slipway in May 1943. From here, men from the US Army/4th Infantry Division embarked for UTAH beach (France) for the D-Day landing on 6th June 1944/[picture]/Operation Overlord was the code name for the Battle of Normandy, the operation that launched the invasion of German-occupied Western/Europe during the Second World War by Allied forces. The operation commenced on 6 June 1944 with the Normandy landings./A 12,000-plane airborne assault preceded an amphibious assault involving almost 7,000 vessels.
