About the memorial: Brass Plaque on wooden backboard-The letters 'I' (in), 'M' (memory), 'D' (district), 'P' (postal) & 'S' (staff) are in red while the remaining letters are in black. Bottom of the plaque steps down three times, the WW2 part is on these steps. The backboard has a chamfered edge and is 25mm wider all round than the plaque. There is a double red line border round the WW1 part of the plaque. The stepped part was clearly added later to accommodate the WW2 plaque. The WW1 lettering is Roman, the WW2 lettering is sans serifs.. Wall mounted in enquiry office. Has always been in the sorting office (which has moved several times over the years), not in the Post Office although it was unveiled there.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
