About the memorial: The current (2020) status and location of the memorial is unknown. Report from the Isle of Wight County Press 15/04/1950 A Rover Scouts' Memorial Window - An impressive ceremony took place at the District Rover Scout Den at the Scout Headquarters, Lind Place on Tuesday, when the Reverend T.J. Foinette dedicated a stained glass memorial window to the Rovers of North-East Wight, who served in the war. The window, which was designed and painted by Rover Scout Leader C. Jacobs (2nd Ryde) portrays land, sea and air Scouts, and is illuminated. Rover Scout Leader Jacobs was presented with a leather bound Scout Prayer Book by the District Rovers in appreciation of his beautiful work. The Reverend P. Vaughan and Bruce Carpenter (1st Ryde), Gerald Langdon (2nd Ryde) and Jack Hencher (7th Ryde - 1st Binstead) were invested by Mr G. Wheeler (Assistant District Commissioner for Rovers). The evening closed with a talk on the Scout Promise by Mr. Foinette. Among those present were Dr. F.R.B.H. Kennedy MBE JP (Assistant Island Commissioner for Rovers) Mr. A. H. Osborne (Chairman) and Mr. O. Loader (Secretary of the North-East Wight District Association) the Reverend S. Cornish and Rover H. Saunders (Oxford Rover Crew). The building in question was the Headquarters of the old North-East Wight District prior to the formation of the present East-Wight District. The location of the building was in fact in Lind Place, opposite the Car Park. It was later to become the "Moose Hall". Upon the sale of the building by Langdons the builders, to become the "Moose Hall", the window was removed and transported to the mainland, later being installed in the home of the original person who designed and painted it - Mr. C. Jacobs. The original building has now been converted into flats.
