The Newport Borough War Memorial (WMO/102281) was paid for by public subscription, some 1500 people contributing a total of £1562 10s 8d. A surplus of £450 from the fund was used to purchase the Newport Blue School as the Newport War Memorial Nursing Home. There is a stone dedication tablet on the front facade, with a metal historical plaque below. The Isle of Wight reference suggests the building is listed but this has not been verified by English Heritage records. Opened in 1921 as the Nursing Home by Lady Seely.
