About the memorial: Addition to family gravestone. The graveyard is otherwise known as Strathpeffer Old Burial Ground. This unsignposted cemetery (unnamed when you get there) is in an unkempt condition. To reach the cemetery, from the Village Square, take the unnamed Church Brae, take the 2nd left past the former Free Kirk, and keep on going. The Cemetery will eventually be found above the houses, with a rough access path. The gravestone is against the top wall towards the East end of the Cemetery.

In loving memory of Margaret McFarquhar beloved wife of Colin Matheson, Hts. Of Achterneed who departed this life 30th Sep 1926 aged 69 years. Also of their son Alexander Matheson (Lieut CMGC) killed in action at St Olle, CambraI 28th Sep 1918 aged 22 years and the said Colin Matheson died 20th Aug 1950 aged 93 years.
