Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.
If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.
The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Panel 1-THE GREAT WAR/1914-1918/SEE YE TO IT THAT/THESE MEN/HAVE NOT/DIED IN VAIN/[names in 2 columns]/ IN WHOSE MEMORY/THIS CHAPEL WAS/CONVERTED &/FURNISHED FOR DIVINE SERVICE Panel 2-THE GREAT WAR/1914-1918/”THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE”/[5 names] Panel 3-THE SECOND/WORLD WAR/1939.1945/GREATER LOVE HATH NO/MAN THAN THIS/THAT/A MAN LAY DOWN HIS/LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS/[names] WW2 Roll of Honour-THIS PARISH HALL OF SAINT GEORGE THE MARTYR/WAS RENOVATED AS A THANK OFFERING TO/ALMIGHTY GOD/IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THESE MEMBERS OF THE/PARISH AND CONGREGATION WHO HAVING SERVED/THEIR COUNTRY OVERSEAS IN THE GREAT WAR WERE/SPARED TO RETURN TO THEIR HOMES/[names in 3 columns although designed to be read across rows, rather than down columns] Case containing Communion Ware & Explanatory Notice- War Memorial Sanctuary Furnishings/ The following were used often under shell fire during the Great War in Flanders, France & Germany/by the Rev CV Chavasse, Temporary Chaplain to the Forces (Aug 1914-Apr 1919) and were given to him for the Memorial Chapel when he became Vicar of the Church of St George the Martyr, Barrow in Furness (July 1919) Brass Cross-given by Lieut General Sir Walter Braithwaite KCB etc in memory of his son Val, who was killed, but never found at Beaumont Hamel, 1916 Brass Candlesticks-given by a Corporal of the Pioneer Battalion Brass Vases-made out of French 75% shell cases and given by French soldiers at Rheims, during the great German advance and retreat, July 1918 Chalice, Paten, Bread Box, Wine Cruet-used during the whole war and during the Occupation of Germany Small Wooden Cross- the only thing untouched in the Church of Bienvilliers, smashed to ruins by shell fire. Given by a sapper who found it and made it to pieces for easy transport Communion Linen-used for services with the 9th Forces Headquarters 1918-1919 Two Purificators-from Ypres Cathedral. Note upon one the initials SM (St Martin) Active Service Prayer Book-used by a Private in the 62nd Division. The Divisional sign was a Pelican, hence the design employed upon the cover, the sacred emblem of Corpus Christi-a pelican feeding her young with her own flesh Frontal and Super Frontal-used in France and Germany 1916-1919 Flagon, Veil and Burse-given by a sapper in Germany
