About the memorial: Stained glass window and brass plaque, on the north wall. The window depicts the three kings of Northumbria. In the left hand light is Oswald, victor of Heavenfield, carrying a large wooden cross with, below, inset in a laurel wreath, a scene of St. Oswald urging his troops beside the cross at Heavenfield cross. The centre light shows St. Oswin, true friend and disciple of St. Aidan, with (below) a scene depicting St. Aidan giving his horse to a beggar. In the right hand light is Edwin, with, below, inset in a laurel wreath, a scene showing Edwin being baptised by Paulinus. The brass plaque below bears the coat of arms of the Mewburn family and the badge of the King's Hussars in the top left and right corners respectively. The dedication is in Roman capitals.
