About the memorial: On wall in entrance hall, wooden (Oak, taken from HMS Brittania) board with triangular pediment, beige border and four columns of names on a black panel. The dedication, in gold-painted Roan lettering, is within the pediment. Each of the four columns of names is headed by a small gold-painted cross with a red poppy at its centre. The space underneath the dedication is divided into four panels by flat pillars which are arched at the top. These panels bear the names in a single column on each of the dead from 1914-18, handwritten in gold paint using Roman capitals throughout, and at the top of each panel is a gold-painted cross with a red poppy at centre. At the bottom, the last two names in every column are from 1939-45. Originally at Bebside Primitive Methodist Church until it closed after 1932, then in Bebside War Memorial Hall until it burnt down in the 1950's and then St Mary's Church, Horton

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
