About the memorial: Gable-headed teak board, with names in gold-painted lettering listed in three columns separated by pilasters. A smaller separate stepped-triangle board above contains the dedication. The memorial commemorates men who had worked at Crofton, Isabella and North Pits. Made by Hughes Bolckow. On the First floor corridor; The building was formerly the Cowpen and Crofton Miners Welfare Hall. The Memorial was originally fixed to the gable of the pay office wall at the south pit of Cowpen Colliery until closure

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
