About the memorial: The Hordle Memorial Hall was built as a successor to the Rosoman Memorial Hall (WMO/280179). The new hall was controversially built over part of the graveyard, and opened in 2005. The memorial plaque to Lieutenant Rosoman from the old hall was retained, and is now displayed at the entrance to the "Rosoman Room" on the ground floor. . The original hall was paid for by Captain and Mrs Rosoman in memory of their son, Charles Robert Rosoman of the Fleet Air Arm, who had been killed in an air crash in Malta in 1947. Although a peacetime accident, he was on active service at the time so thie still counts as a war memorial.
