About the memorial: Housing Estate of 28 houses, with the streets named after the 5 children who died. The estate is called Robson's way and the streets are named Sheila's close, Sylvia's Close, William's Close, Ethel's Close, and Marjorie's Close. The Stirling Bomber EH880, returning to RAF Acklington from a bombing mission misjudged their location in fog and flew into the family home-Cliff House Farm killing all the children of the family, who are buried in Amble West Cemetery. They were aged 9, 7,5, 3 and 18 months. A tragedy their parents never recovered from. The estate is a couple of fields away. See also WMO/280271 for the memorial at Chevington which includes the air crew who died in the accident. See also WMO/280278 for the Church memorial to the family.
