About the memorial: Described by the IWM Register as "a very unusual stone battlefield cross", the normal definition of a battlefield cross being of wood. Formerly at Quatre-Vents Military Cemetery, France.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

Top of the Cross Shaft- REST/IN/THE/LORD On the Cross-LIEUT W.E. HAMBLIN/5TH FIELD CO. R.E. The wording at the base of the original cross is ‘KILLED IN ACTION MAY 24th 1916’ Inscription on the 1925 base ‘ERECTED BY HIS BROTHER OFFICER [sic] IN THE QUATRE VENT [sic] CEMETERY FRANCE’ almost sunken out of sight ‘TRANSFERRED HERE IN 1925’.
