About the memorial: Roll of Honour set within a black wooden frame. The station was originally known as just Salt but this was changed to Salt and Sandon in order, according to Wikipedia, to avoid confusion with a nearby station on another line called - 'Sandon and Salt'! But Salt and Sandon station is no more. It was between Salt and Sandon and closer to the latter but there is nothing to be seen where it would have been except a sawmill. Passenger services ceased in 1939. See Condition Update.
