About the memorial: Metal Plaque. Note that 'No Place', Beamish is a real and actual address, no matter how unlikely it sounds. Fanny Pit closed in 1956. It is not clear what happened to the plaque between then and 1987. In that latter year John Taylor became landlord of the Beamish Mary, he had family connections to the Beamish Mary and was given memorabilia of the pit, including this plaque, to furnish the pub with. He subsequently moved on to another public house but left all the memorabilia.
