Description: Addition to Gravestone
Materials:
  • Stone Stone (any)
Lettering: Incised
Conflicts:
  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: Addition to family gravestone 6O146-which is now recumbent. To assist with locating this gravestone it is the next one south from WMO/283161, on the third row from the top of the square plot which is Ward 6O, and the fourth one from the south end of that row, bearing in mind that the two rows of gravestones on the south edge of the plot are Ward 6P. As the stone is becoming hard to read and has significant genealogical information I have unusually transcribed it all. The Cemetery Register has been checked- Jessie and the 2 Butlers are all buried here. As this is Ward 6O it means that the family were Roman Catholic. I make that point as anyone follows up on the family needs to know that the parish registers are not in the public domain. They are held by the Church. The stone was photographed in 2021 minutes after the grass had been cut!
